Personal injury solicitors, Manchester
Injured on the road, at work or in a public place, or helping someone who was? This page explains what is worth keeping, how a claim usually starts and how to reach us in confidence. Nothing here is advice on your own case.
General information, not advice on your situation.
Claim types
Each area below has its own page in the full site, covering who it usually concerns, what the first conversation covers and common questions.
Drivers, passengers, cyclists and pedestrians injured on the road, including claims involving uninsured or untraced drivers.
Injuries at work and some industrial illnesses, where a claim is usually made against the employer and its insurer.
Trips, falls and other injuries in shops, on pavements or on premises run by councils and businesses.
Claims by bereaved families and dependants after a death caused by an accident.
We also act in employment and consumer disputes.
After an accident
These notes cover details that are easy to lose in the first days. You do not need all of them; keeping whatever you already have is enough.
Health and safety come first. This list is for after you have been treated and are safe.
Keep, do not uploadAfter the first conversation we agree which records are needed and how to send them securely.
Pictures often explain an accident better than words. Only take what you can without putting yourself at risk.
Treatment records may be needed later. Please do not upload them to us; simply keep them together.
Memories fade quickly. A name and a number, given willingly, is enough.
Reports and letters form the backbone of a claim. Ask for advice before signing anything you do not understand.
Claims are subject to time limits set by law.
How it works
Every claim starts with the same general steps. At no stage do we promise an outcome, an amount or a timescale.
You call or complete the short form. We ask only what we need to call you back.
Before we talk in detail, we check that we have no relationship with the other side. If we do, we tell you straight away.
We discuss what happened in general terms, which records may help and how your claim could be funded.
If you decide to go ahead, we confirm terms in writing and collect records through a secure channel.
How we work
These apply to everyone who contacts us and follow from our professional obligations.
What you tell us is confidential from your very first enquiry, whether or not you go on to instruct us.
The form asks for a name, a number and the type of accident. Medical details come later, and only as far as needed.
Before you sign anything, we explain in writing how your claim is funded and what may be deducted from damages.
We do not buy leads, pay for referrals or take payment for passing claims on. Enquiries come straight to us.
Questions
General answers only. For your own situation, please speak to one of our solicitors.
We may offer a conditional fee agreement, often called no win no fee. If the claim succeeds, a success fee may be deducted from your damages; in personal injury claims it is capped at 25% of general damages and damages for past financial loss. If the claim fails you would not usually pay our fees, but other costs can arise depending on the agreement and any insurance. We explain all of this in writing before you sign.
Medical information is sensitive, and collecting it before anyone has spoken creates risk without benefit. We ask for records after the first conversation, through a secure channel.
Not before we have seen the facts and the medical evidence. We do not publish typical payouts because every claim is different, and any figure given too early would only mislead.
Keep every letter and note every call. It is sensible to get advice before accepting an offer or signing anything. This is general information, not advice on your situation.
