Manchester · EV charger installs

Every charge starts at the fuse box.

Akaryol installs EV chargers for houses, flats and shared car parks, and businesses. We do not write a quote before we have seen your consumer unit and the route the cable will take. Photos come first, and a site visit happens only when it is really needed.

Three questions before any price: parking type, distance to the fuse box, supply type.

Three doors, one survey form.

At home the owner decides, in flats the building has a say, at work the fleet manager. Each door leads to the same photo survey form.

L2Home charging check

No price until we have seen your fuse box.

A few questions and two photos, and your request arrives complete. Firm details come in the written quote after the survey.

≈ 12 m

Think of the route the cable would follow along the walls, from the consumer unit to the parking space.

3Your supply type

Most homes are single phase; your supplier or the meter label can confirm it.

    L3Power and plugs

How many kW, which plug, how long?

Charging time depends on charger output, supply, the car and the battery. So we always show time with its assumptions.

    AC · home and work

    Type 2

The common plug on home and workplace chargers. The car's own onboard charger converts the current, so the AC power the car accepts sets the limit.

    DC · rapid charging

    CCS, Combo 2

Type 2 with two DC pins added below. Found at rapid public chargers; home installs normally use an AC charger.

    Common AC power levels
    PowerSupplyCurrent
    3.7 kWSingle phase16 A
    7.4 kWSingle phase32 A
    11 kWThree phase16 A
    22 kWThree phase32 A

How to read an overnight charge

Change the values; the chart shows where a charge starting at 22:00 would reach under these assumptions. Smart chargers sold in Great Britain are set to charge outside peak hours by default.

    Charger output
    AC power the car accepts
    60 kWh

    Example time, with assumptions≈ 4 h 50 min

    If it starts at 22:00

NAssumptions: battery from 20 to 80 percent, constant power, no charging losses and no charging curve. Real time varies with the car and conditions.

    NFlats and shared car parks

Take a pack to your freeholder, not just a question.

In a block of flats the charger is not only your decision. Our short pack answers what the freeholder or managing agent will ask.

    1. Cable routeFrom the main panel to your bay, and which shared areas it passes.
    2. MeteringYour flat's own meter, a separate sub meter or a shared system.
    3. Impact on shared areasWork on walls, ceilings and floors, and the working days.
    4. Billing optionsTechnical options for how consumption is charged to your flat.

The pack is not legal advice. Questions on consent belong with the building's own advisers.

    PERules

Smart by law, grants through authorised installers.

Two things customers in Great Britain often hear about only at handover. We explain them up front, with sources.

    Smart chargingA

    Home and workplace chargepoints

Chargepoints sold in Great Britain must meet the Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021:

    • smart functionality
    • default charging hours outside peak times
    • security measures

At handover we show you the schedule and how to change it.

    GrantsB

    Where a chargepoint grant applies

GOV.UK says customers contact an OZEV authorised installer, who claims the grant on their behalf after the install. Schemes and amounts change, so we point you to GOV.UK instead of quoting figures, and tell you which schemes we work with.

SourcesThe Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021, SI 2021/1467, legislation.gov.uk. GOV.UK, EV chargepoint grant for renters and flat owners, how to apply. Public and rapid charging follow other rules.

Why Akaryol and how it works

Five steps from photo to first charge.

Four principles, one aim: you do not wait for an unnecessary visit, and our team does not set out with half the facts.

    01

    Photos first, visit second

We plan a visit only when the photos are not enough.

    02

    Assumptions on the page

When we talk power and time, we name the car and supply behind it.

    03

    Homes and fleets apart

One charger and load managed multi bay charging follow separate paths.

    04

    Still here after handover

Checks, firmware, app and RFID card support have their own route.

    FAQ

    Asked before an install

If your question is not here, write to us through the contact form and we will answer in writing.

Is my supply good enough for a home charger?

That depends on the consumer unit, the supply and other loads in the house. A consumer unit photo is a good start; where needed we measure on site.

I live in a flat. Who needs to agree?

Work in shared areas usually needs the agreement of the freeholder or managing agent. We prepare the technical information pack; questions on consent belong with the building's own advisers.

Will a 22 kW charger charge my car faster?

Not always. A car accepts only up to a certain AC power; if yours takes 11 kW, a 22 kW unit will not shorten the time. A 22 kW charger also needs a three phase supply.

Does my home charger have to be smart?

In Great Britain, yes: home and workplace chargepoints sold there fall under the Smart Charge Points Regulations 2021, which require smart functionality, default off peak charging hours and security measures.
