Solid wood
We use solid timber instead of veneered board, so a surface can be sanded and renewed years later.

Solid wood furniture workshop, Bursa
Mertek is a family workshop making tables, cabinets and seating to measure in walnut, oak and ash. We also repair worn pieces and make them fit for daily use again.
01 Workshop
Every job starts with a cut list: which part, which wood, which size. We wrote down the work of our workshop in the same way.
| No | Work | How it is made | Wood |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | Dining and work tables | Tops in one piece or jointed solid wood; legs and rails are drawn for your room. | Walnut, oak |
| 02 | Cabinets and bookcases | Built to fit a wall, an alcove or the space under the stairs; every surface is wood, backs included. | Oak, ash |
| 03 | Seating | Chairs, benches and stools, assembled with mortise and tenon and dowels instead of screws. | Ash, cherry |
| 04 | Repair and renewal | Loose joints are remade, surfaces sanded back and protected again with oil. | Existing wood |
02 Our new site
We rebuilt our website without leaving you behind. Drag the slider or use the buttons: on the left the page we used for years, on the right the site today.
The old page was drawn for desktop only; the new site was designed for the phone first.
Photos were compressed and the old player and plugins that slowed every visit were removed.
Every old page is linked to its closest new page with a permanent redirect.
The topic and title of the product pages people searched for were kept; the text was updated.
If you arrived through an old link, you are in the right place. We tested every row before launch; pages without a direct match go to the most relevant parent page, not to the home page.

A chair in for repair: first we decide what to keep.
03 Our difference
The rule we followed for our new website is the rule we have long followed in furniture: protect what has value, remake what is weak.
We use solid timber instead of veneered board, so a surface can be sanded and renewed years later.
We do not hide dovetails or mortise and tenon joints; that is where the strength comes from.
Each piece is drawn from measurements taken in your home, so you never give up space to fit a standard size.
An oil and wax finish lets a scratch be repaired in that spot alone.
04 Process
You know what happens at every step; the drawing and the quote reach you in writing.

We discuss what you need, where it will live and which wood you prefer.
Someone from the workshop visits, measures the space and takes photos.
We review the drawing and wood samples together and confirm the final version in writing.
The piece is cut, joined and oiled in the workshop; we share photos along the way.
We deliver ourselves, fit the piece in place and leave a care note.
05 Questions
It depends on the size of the piece, whether the wood is ready and the queue in the workshop. Once the drawing is approved we give you a delivery date in writing and share photos along the way.
A fair price is not possible before the measurements and drawing are clear. After our talk we prepare a written quote that shows wood, size and labour on separate lines.
Yes, we repair solid wood pieces. We look at the piece first and check the joints and the surface; if a repair does not make sense, we say so plainly.
Not at all. Oiled surfaces are wiped with a damp cloth, and a thin coat of care oil once or twice a year is enough. We leave a written care note on delivery.
All old addresses were redirected to the new pages, so most saved links take you to the right place. If you find one that does not open, send it to us and we will check it and add the redirect.
06 Contact
Tell us briefly what you have in mind; we will get back to you and agree on a day that suits you.
Workshop visits are by appointment, so we can welcome you at the bench.
