Online ceramics school · first lesson free

From mud to form, lesson by lesson.

Kilnlight teaches the potter’s wheel through video lessons arranged in modules. The first lesson is open to everyone; as a member a new lesson unlocks each week, and the Pro plan adds the glaze and firing module.

A pale vase rising on the wheel, shaped by two hands
Every lesson shows your hands from two angles: above and from the side.

03 · Approach

Like a slow firing: no rush, just order.

Ceramics is learned by doing, not watching, so the lessons send you back to the wheel between each one.

01

Lessons unlock weekly

We do not drop the whole archive on day one. One lesson opens each week, giving you time on the wheel before the next.

02

Two cameras, one movement

You watch subtle moves like centring from above and from the side at once, so it is clear where your hands should be.

03

Printable lesson sheets

Each lesson ends with a one page sheet: measurements, clay moisture, common mistakes. Print it and pin it up in your studio.

04

Glaze and firing as a craft of its own

The Pro module covers glaze chemistry and firing schedules with safety notes. You work with test tiles before anything goes in the kiln.

06 · FAQ

What to know before you sign up.

If your question is not here, send it through the form below.

I have never touched clay. Can I start?

Yes. The first module starts with getting to know and wedging clay; without a wheel you can begin with the hand building exercises. Watch the free sample lesson, then decide.

How do I cancel my subscription?

With the Cancel subscription button on your account page, in two clicks. No phone call or email needed. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period and lessons stay open until then.

Can I log in with Google?

Yes. Sign up with Google in one click, or create an account with email and password. Email accounts are activated through the confirmation link we send.

What happens if I change plan?

When you move to Pro, the glaze and firing module opens immediately. Back on Member, Pro lessons lock but your progress is kept, so you continue where you left off if you upgrade again.

Why is there a separate consent box at checkout?

Digital lessons open as soon as you pay. In that case you have to agree explicitly that you lose your right to cancel, so the box stands on its own and is never ticked in advance.
