Şakul, Turkish for plumb line, is a small chiropractic clinic in London. Our chiropractors are registered with the General Chiropractic Council, every first visit starts with an assessment, and our care sits alongside your medical treatment, never in its place.

C1Approach

As clear as a plumb line: who, where and how.

In the UK, only practitioners registered with the General Chiropractic Council may call themselves chiropractors. We explain the process instead of praising the method.

01

You know who treats you

Qualifications and registration numbers are on this page, so you know who you will see.

02

Assessment before treatment

Treatment begins only if the assessment shows it suits you. If not, we say so and suggest who to see.

03

Information, not promises

No promised results or set number of sessions; just what will be done and what you may feel.

T4Assessment

What the first assessment looks at, region by region

Select a region to see what your chiropractor looks at first. It is not a diagnosis; it helps you prepare.

Cervical · C1 to C7

Neck

What the first assessment looks at

  • 01Head and neck posture, sitting and standing
  • 02How the neck turns and bends
  • 03When the problem started and what changes it
  • 04Any previous scans or reports

ImportantDizziness or numbness in the arms is checked first and may mean a referral to your GP.

T9First visit

Day one, in five steps

Knowing what happens makes the decision easier. The first visit is longer than follow ups.

  1. 01
    Step 01

    A short call

We agree a day and time by phone; we talk about the appointment, not your health details.

  2. 02
    Step 02

    Your history

Your chiropractor listens to your history and reviews any reports or scans you bring.

  3. 03
    Step 03

    Examination

Posture, movement and a physical examination of the region that concerns you.

  4. 04
    Step 04

    Suitable or not

You hear whether chiropractic care suits you, or whether a referral to your GP makes more sense.

  5. 05
    Step 05

    Plan and consent

If suitable, the plan and its complementary role are explained and your consent is asked.

L1Session

How a session runs

Session length and frequency are agreed with your chiropractor after the assessment. This is the general flow.

Before

Wear comfortable, flexible clothes. Tell your chiropractor if anything has changed since your last visit.

During

Each movement is explained before it happens. Joints may make a sound; you can ask to stop at any moment.

After

Mild soreness for a day or two can occur. If anything feels unusual, call us and your GP.

Chiropractic care does not replace the treatment your doctor recommends; it sits alongside it.

We explain this at your first visit too. Do not stop medicines or treatment without your doctor.

L5FAQ

Common questions

Not answered here? Call us; the first call needs no health details.

Who can call themselves a chiropractor?

Only practitioners registered with the General Chiropractic Council. Our registration numbers are shown on this page and can be checked on the GCC register.

How many sessions will I need?

It differs from person to person, so we do not say at the start. Number and spacing are agreed after the assessment and reviewed as you go.

When may chiropractic not be suitable?

Certain bone or blood vessel conditions, recent injuries or operations and nerve related signs can rule treatment out. Your chiropractor decides at the assessment.

Do I need to stop my current treatment?

No. Chiropractic care is complementary and does not replace what your doctor recommends. Do not change medicines without speaking to your doctor.

What will I feel during treatment?

Pressure, and sometimes a sound from the joints. Every movement is explained first, and treatment stops whenever you ask.

Should I describe my health problem in the form?

No. Name, phone and preferred time are enough; health details are discussed in person.
