Choose where it hurts

Each topic gives a general outline of common conditions in that area. The texts are for information only; a diagnosis needs an examination.

Knee

Related conditionsMeniscus tear, anterior cruciate ligament injury, knee osteoarthritis

The knee carries body weight and takes much of the strain of twisting movements. A sudden turn during sport can injure the meniscus or a ligament, while years of load can wear down the cartilage.

Common symptoms

  • Pain going down stairs
  • Locking or catching
  • Swelling or the knee giving way

When to seek advice

If the knee locks, swells noticeably or you cannot put weight on it, do not delay an examination.

I spend the first minutes of every consultation listening. Scans matter, but you are the best person to tell me when and how the pain started.

How do I book an appointment?

Fill in the form, call the private rooms or send a WhatsApp message. For hospital days, appointments are made through that hospital’s booking line; the numbers are listed under locations.

Should I have an MRI or X-ray before I come?

There is no need. Which imaging is useful is decided after the examination. If you already have scans, simply bring them with you.

Does every joint pain need surgery?

No. For many orthopaedic complaints, non-surgical treatment is tried first. If surgery is recommended, the reasons, possible risks and recovery are discussed separately.

Can I use private health insurance?

Accepted insurers vary by location. Mention your insurer in the request form and the assistant will confirm what applies.

Why are there no reviews or before and after photos here?

Turkish health promotion rules do not allow patient thank-you notices or demand-creating before and after images. Everything on this site is for information.

Can the consultation be held in English?

Yes. Consultations can be held in Turkish, English or German; just choose your language in the request form.
