Tree surgery, felling and surveys · Surrey
We climb before we cut.
Gürgen is a team of climbing arborists for garden, estate and school trees. We first check whether a tree can be kept, then agree the work with you in writing.

Emergency
If a tree has come down, four first steps
The first minutes after a storm are the riskiest. Do this before you call us.
- 01
Keep clear
Stay away from fallen or hanging limbs; move children, pets and cars out of the area.
- 02
Power line involved? Hands off
If a tree is resting on a power line, keep well away and call 105 to report it to the network operator first.
- 03
Take photos
From a safe distance, photograph the tree, the break and anything underneath; it helps with the quote and insurance.
- 04
Call us
Share your location on WhatsApp and the team plans a first visit to make the tree safe.

Services
Felling is the top rung of the ladder
We start every tree with the lightest work that will do. We tell you in writing, from photos or a visit, which job is really needed.
Deadwood removal and formative pruning
Dead, crossing and roof rubbing branches come out; young trees get a sound structure.
Crown thinning
Selected inner branches come out so wind and light pass through; the shape stays.
Crown reduction
We reduce a crown reaching for a house, line or neighbour back to suitable growth points. No topping, ever.
- Last resort
Sectional felling
When a tree must go, we climb or use a platform and lower it piece by piece on ropes, without touching roofs or borders.
Stump and root grinding
We grind the stump below ground level and explain options for roots lifting a path.
Tree surveys and reports
For managing agents, schools and businesses we inspect each tree and hand over observations, recommended work and urgency in a written report.
Tree check
Describe your tree, get a quote without a visit
The drawing changes as you choose and the job ticket fills itself in. Add photos and access at the end; small jobs can often be priced straight away.
Consent planner
Do you need permission?
In England, protection depends on the tree, not the season. Pick the month you give notice and the wheel shows when conservation area work could start.
Source: GOV.UK, Tree Preservation Orders and trees in conservation areas (Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Part VIII and section 211). General information only; we never promise that consent will be granted.
How we work
From rope to handover in six steps
Scroll and our climber works down the rope; you know what happens at every stage.
- 01
Describe
Fill in the tree check or call us and send photos.
- 02
First look
The team leader prices small jobs from photos and books a visit for risky ones.
- 03
Written quote
Work, equipment, waste and consent status on separate lines; we pick the date together.
- 04
Closing the area
On the day we close the area with barriers and tape and guide people and cars around it.
- 05
Climb and work
We tie in, lower branches on ropes and the ground crew watches every cut.
- 06
Clean up
Branches are chipped and the site swept. Who keeps the green waste is written in the quote.
Team, kit, insurance
Know who is working at height
On a real site this is filled from documents. We publish only what can be proven.

- Climbing ropes and safety kit
- Aerial platform
- Crane, for big removals
- Wood chipper
- Stump grinder
- Barriers for closing the area

Questions
What tree owners ask first
If your answer is not here, call or send a photo.
Does my tree need to come down?
Usually not. Deadwood removal, thinning or a reduction often keeps it. We tell you in writing which work is needed and only suggest felling when a tree cannot be kept safely.
Do you need to visit before quoting?
For small jobs with easy access, photos are enough. Large trees and trees near lines or buildings get a site visit.
Do I need permission?
In England, cutting down, topping, lopping or uprooting a tree with a Tree Preservation Order needs the local planning authority’s written consent, and most conservation area work needs six weeks of notice. We never promise an outcome.
What about trees near power lines?
We never go near a tree touching a line; it is reported to the network operator first. For trees close to but not touching a line, we plan the work with the operator.
What happens to the branches and stump?
Branches are chipped and taken away, or left as logs. Stump grinding has its own line in the quote.
